Adventures in Quilting

For many years our quilting friendship group "Bits and Pieces" and friends has been making the trek to Temecula for a 4-day quilt retreat. It is a quaint venue nestled in-between Vinyards. Always lovely views of the valley, wildlife, and sometimes hot air balloons.

This year we were also treated to several emergency warnings and possible evacuation notices thanks to a wildfire that started about 7 miles from us. After some deliberation we decided to pack most of our things back in our cars for the first night. And many of us stayed up late just in case the order came to move out. Thankfully for us, and all the horses in the area, we did not have to pack up, but the fire isn't out as of this post. So, we are still praying for those in it's path.

Sunset the first day, through the smoke of the Highland Fire.

We had a fun PJ day on Halloween. Comfy and fun.

Our show and tell on Wednesday is always fun. Some projects we saw partially done the last time we were together; others were new surprises. Such creativity and skill!

I spent time working on binding a few small quilts and putting rows together in two other quilts. Of course, I took way more projects that I could possibly get to. I think that is a rule for any creative retreat.

It is always sad to pack up, the days never seem to last long enough. Lots of laughter and comradery as we work on our projects. Just can't beat it.

Rogue Stampers (Oct. '23)

Soon after the start of my teaching career several of my colleagues and I would meet once a month or so to create cards and other crafts with rubber stamps. We had many good times hanging out and creating together. Some of us moved schools, towns, or jobs and the group disbanded. Then several years ago I was invited to join one of these colleagues, Kim, with several other ladies who call themselves the Rouge Stampers. I have really enjoyed getting back into this form of creativity, and comradery.

The theme this month was FOOD.

Imagine My Surprise!

This evening I was reading a blog by another quilter and realized she was publishing on Blogger. I stopped adding to my blog in 2014 because it was my understanding that Blogger was no longer going to be up and running. And yet here it is ...along with all of my old posts. Boy, do I feel foolish. I am pretty sure that I had enough things on my plate during the past 8-9 years to warrant not blogging, but...

I will just leave this quick message for now. I guess I am back to blogging. I wonder how much I should look back at what I have done since 2014? and how much I should just focus on the here and now. For now, I will just say hello, and ask what you think? Should I just start a new? or should I also pull in some of my projects from the past 8 years?
