Adventures in Quilting

For many years our quilting friendship group "Bits and Pieces" and friends has been making the trek to Temecula for a 4-day quilt retreat. It is a quaint venue nestled in-between Vinyards. Always lovely views of the valley, wildlife, and sometimes hot air balloons.

This year we were also treated to several emergency warnings and possible evacuation notices thanks to a wildfire that started about 7 miles from us. After some deliberation we decided to pack most of our things back in our cars for the first night. And many of us stayed up late just in case the order came to move out. Thankfully for us, and all the horses in the area, we did not have to pack up, but the fire isn't out as of this post. So, we are still praying for those in it's path.

Sunset the first day, through the smoke of the Highland Fire.

We had a fun PJ day on Halloween. Comfy and fun.

Our show and tell on Wednesday is always fun. Some projects we saw partially done the last time we were together; others were new surprises. Such creativity and skill!

I spent time working on binding a few small quilts and putting rows together in two other quilts. Of course, I took way more projects that I could possibly get to. I think that is a rule for any creative retreat.

It is always sad to pack up, the days never seem to last long enough. Lots of laughter and comradery as we work on our projects. Just can't beat it.
