I am sure we all have some kind of memory of turning 13, becoming a "teenager..." Well, last night was the family party for our friends' daughter, who just turned 13. She is an adorable, sweet, outgoing, fun loving girl. It has long been known that she is also the Princess with 3 very protective older brothers (18, 21, 27), a dad in denial, and many uncles who will definitely be around to remind the boys that she is off limits! The poor girl will never get the chance to date with that lot around!!!
Anyway, Being the typical tween/teenager she is in to music, guitars, dancing and the like. So I had to use that in the wrappings of the gift we gave her.
I used the soda bottle idea that
Cricut Crafty Granny shared on the Cricut Circle MBs and her blog. I stuffed full of pens, SMASH tape and other little goodies for her to use in the SMASH book we gave her. To cover up the hole in the side of the bottle. I cut a 12 x 6.5" strip of striped paper. This is not quite big enough to go around the whole bottle, which is fine because I then created a medallion to cover the remainder of the bottle using Elegant Edges - Leaf cut at 7".
To this I added the guitar cut from Hannah Montana cut at 5" and the Party Like a Rock Star phrase 3", cut from Life is a Party. I had to "bling" it out a bit with copic pens, and gem stones.
The medallion was kind of thick and would not stay around the bottle, so I added eyelets to the edges and ran some raffia type ribbon through it.
After doing that, I realized I liked that idea a lot and I think I will use it again instead of the ton of adhesive. (Especially after watching her try to get the bottle open last night. oops)
